Perfect Pentecost

Kia ora,

This week in RE we have been learning about the events of Pentecost and the symbols of the Holy Spirit. A few examples of symbols of the Holy Spirit are: Dove, Fire, Wind and Water. All of these symbols have been mentioned or had a special place in the Bible. Last week for RE I created a Poster about a symbol of the Holy Spirit of our choice. I chose to do one on Fire. Here is my work.

My Create this week for RE was to create a slide show about the events of Pentecost. I really enjoyed making this. I loved making a my fire symbol on my own instead of using one that I found from Google. There are 4 events of Pentecost. Here is my work, I hope you like it.

What did you learn from my post? What new knowledge do you have about Pentecost and Symbols of the Holy Spirit?

Have you ever created your own image? If so did you enjoy it and what was it?

CST Principles

Kia ora,

This week in R.E ( Religious Education ) we have been learning about the CST Principles. CST stands for Catholic Social teachings. There are 9 different principles: participation, common good, distributive justice, preferential option for the poor and vulnerable, human dignity, stewardship, solidarity, promotion of peace and subsidiarity. Our create task was to create a video on Canva explaining the 9 CST principles. We also had to include at least 3 bible verses in your video. I learnt a lot from this task. I really enjoyed making a video on Canva because I had never made on before. I did my create task with Hine, Madison and Jules. We got most of our information from the CST principles Caritas Aoteroa site.

Here is my video I hope that you like it.

Have you ever created a Canva video before?

What is your favourite Catholic Social Teaching (CST) principle?

Fabulous Fast Slide Book Review

Kia ora,

This week in Reading I have been reading a book called Fast Slide. I have been reading it for the past couple weeks. I am about three quarters of the way through it. So I am at the peak of the book. Fast Slide is also a mystery book so I am in the middle of a very interesting mystery at the moment. Our create was to create a digital presentation that showcases our knowledge of Fast Slide. I chose to make a book review, I created this on Canva. I give Fast Slide 4 and a half stars. I really am enjoying reading Fast Slide.

Here is my create I hope that you like it.

What is your favourite book?

Lovely Lent Messages

Kia ora,

This week in R.E we are learning about Motivational Messages from those less fortunate then us. Our create task was to create a motivational message of our own. It had to be short, simple and full of meanings. It also had to somehow relate back to the theme of Lent. I made a bookmark with Jules that included pictures and of course our message which is: “Lent is a time to reflect and be grateful for the little things in life.” Our book mark is lots of different shades of purple because purple is the colour of Lent. I really enjoyed this task. Here is my bookmark. I hope you like it.

Do you have any favourite quotes? Who from? Were you motivated by my message?

Amazing Aika

Kia ora,

This week in reading we have been reading about little kids who make a big impact. Our learning goal was to: Think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking. Use ground rules to have a group discussion about text. Our create task was to create a presentation about your chosen kid on whatever platform you would like. I chose to make my create on canva about Aika Tsubota a girl who changed the world with her words. I really enjoyed this task. Her story is very inspirational. Here is my create task I hope you like it.

Do you know any other kids who have made a difference? If so who.

Legendary Lebron

Kia ora,

This week in reading we have been learning about Athletes that show the school values. Our reading goal for this week was to: Make connections between texts and own life experiences ,also using more sophisticated texts. We read two articles one about Lebron James and one about Micheal Phelps. Then we went on to our follow up task which was to choose one of the athletes that we read about and fill in this chart on how they showed the school values throughout their everyday actions. I chose to do Lebron James. Here is my follow up task.

Our create task was to create a collector card for our chosen athlete ( Lebron James ) it had to include: their name, what sport the play/ed, an example of their social impact and an example of a school value you have in common with your chosen athlete and why. I really enjoyed this task my favourite part was probably finding out lots of things that I never knew about him before. Here is my create task, I hope you like it.

Do you know anything else about Lebron James? Do you want to be like Lebron when you are older?

Terrific Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Kia ora,

This week in reading we have been learning about the treaty of Waitangi and He Whakaputanga. There were 9 different tasks to complete, one for each video. We slowly worked through them throughout the week. Waitangi day is a public holiday every year celebrated on the 6th of February in New Zealand. This is the day that back in 1840 the treaty of Waitangi was signed.

I have learnt a lot from this reading task. Now I will show you what I have learnt in this presentation of my 9 different tasks and KWL task. KWL stands for I Know, I Want to know and Learnt. I have thoroughly enjoyed working through these tasks. I hope you enjoy viewing my learning.

If you can not read the writing then you can click on the image and it will take you to a link to my original work which is bigger.

Have you ever learnt about the treaty of Waitangi? Do you celebrate this day? What did you learn from my post?

Beautiful Bugs

Hi,

This SLJ task was to create a new bug out of images cropped into shapes. The easiest part of this task was definitely choosing the different images to crop. The hardest part was making all the images into shapes to build my insect out of. I called my bug scaleapede because it has scales all over it. I really enjoyed this SLJ task. Here is my work, I hope you like it.

What is your favourite bug or insect?
